Is this Really Coca-Cola’s BEST Commercial?

Some background knowledge for this Coke commercial could include details such as it being produced by The Coca-Cola Company. The commercial gained most attention in Argentina, given that’s where the commercial was originally set to only air. However, the commercial did get vastly popular through other media outlets such as YouTube.

This commercial of Coke’s really hit it off on the TV screens- but not the grocery shelves, according to Marketing Week. So why? There are a lot of different techniques used to attract attention in this commercial.

Of said techniques the first one to discuss is the choice of characters. Personally, they stuck out the most to me. The man and the woman seem to be in their late twenties to early thirties which I believe creates a relateable age demographic when it comes to the audience. Secondly, the choice of house was great. The house of the soon-to-be family is downright gorgeous, which makes it aesthetically pleasing to the audience.

Another interesting component of the commercial is that there is no dialogue. The story keeps the audience engaged solely on the actor’s performance. They do a great job playing their role, and make you feel like you are watching a real story about a growing family develop.

Lastly, like mentioned previously I think the main technique that was used to attract attention was the use of relatability. So many people across the world can find themselves in the everyday life of the actors- tired, drained, and constantly cleaning up after the little one(s) of the household. But being eager and happy to do it all over again for another one. Due to all of this, I think these elements kept the audience engaged throughout the whole thing. That allowed the door to be left open to advertise the new Coca-Cola Life bottle in a way that would stick with the audience.

In general, I really don’t think there is an “intended” audience like a lot of Coke’s other commercials.. The commercial is designed to overall be a “feel good” commercial that everyone can appreciate, whether they’re empty nesters, kids, or young adults. Everyone loves a sense of family. If there was any kind of intended audience, I would have to say it is the obvious one: Families that are in the transitioning process of adjusting life to their kids…

But I’m sure there is one thing everyone can agree on, the message is clear. No matter how rough or tired you feel from your little one/family, the feeling is ultimately rewarding, and most people would do it over again if they could.

An obvious point the commercial is trying to get by is this: try a new Coca-Cola Life! Coca-Cola is very clever in their marketing choice/mechanisms…during the most stressful points of the commercial you can find Coca-Cola Life relieving the situation, making it very desirable to the audience watching. Obviously intended, the message of being a soda drinker, specifically a Coke drinker is being marketed at you- but in a tasteful way.

BUT! IS it the BEST?

In my opinion, I think this Coke commercial really outdid itself! It’s great! But when the person judging doesn’t even have cable to see commercials the answer could be pretty biased…

So I decided the best way to finalize what the best Coke commercial really is was to google ” #1 Best Coke Commercial”. Unfortunately, there were no articles on what I specifically searched for but I did find this article. According to Culture Trip, the #1 of out 13 best Coke commercial is the 1971 “I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke”.

I had personally never seen this commercial before, but I am glad I did now. The commercial literally gave me goosebumps, it has a very nostalgic and happy feeling to the video. I can only imagine how it felt to other audiences when it actually premiered. Coca-Cola Life’s commercial was good, but Coca-Cola’s world peace commercial? Even better.
